The Bambu Lab Cool Plate is best used for PLA filament as it provides the best adhesion. A print surface sticker is applied on this side of the plate so it can be easily replaced when the time comes.
To ensure a longer lifetime of the Cool Plate sticker, please follow the directions on how to use it.
While the adhesion of the Cool Plate is good, some filaments can bond to the surface better than we want, so we recommend using the glue stick included with the printer.
Add a thin coat of glue stick over the cold printing surface before starting a print. This thin coat of glue will act as an interface between the model and the Cool Plate to ensure the removal of the print doesn’t damage it.
We recommend adding the glue stick after every 2-3 prints, but you might need to do it more often, depending on how much glue is removed after a completed print.
It’s easy to get excited after the print is completed, and you want to take that model off the printing surface as quick as possible. But to ensure a longer lifetime of the Cool Plate sticker, we recommend taking out the printing sheet and waiting for a few minutes for it to cool.
After the model and the sheet cools down, you can simply bend the plate from the sides to remove the model, and you are ready for the next print.
Another way of prolonging the lifetime of the Cool Plate is to use a sharp scraper for releasing the model from the printing surface. After the plate has cooled down, gently slide the scraper underneath one of the corners of the model then carefully bend the sheet to remove the model.
The slicer profiles available in the Bambu Studio are configured based on extensive testing with various types of filaments. We recommend using the recommended temperature settings included with the profiles, to protect the Cool Plate and ensure a lasting use for the sheets.
If you believe specific filaments need more temperature, then we recommend either printing on the Engineering Plate using glue stick, or doing a test with a smaller object with the set temperature to ensure everything runs smoothly and the surface is not damaged.
