In order to optimize product performance, we have upgraded the circuit board of the AMS first-stage feeder. This upgrade will affect the AMS units that used the earliest main board. After these AMS units are replaced with a newer version of the first-stage feeder (or the feeding funnel), they cannot be used normally due to compatibility issues. There are about 2,000 AMSs use the earliest main board, and most of them are in the hands of backers participating in KS, but it cannot be absolutely ruled out that some will end up in the hands of normal customers. For those AMS units, if the owner purchases a new version of the first-stage feeder (or the feeding funnel), please contact the Bambu Lab Service Team, and we will send you a new AMS main board for free to ensure that you can make your AMS work. In the following article, we will explain how to distinguish the version of the AMS main board, how to apply for a new main board, and some of our requirements.
The switch version (old version) of the AMS first-stage feeders and the feeding funnels have been discontinued, and all the AMS first-stage feeders and the feeding funnels that the customers can order from the official mall are the hall version (new version).
You can confirm the version of the AMS main board by checking the appearance of the components at the R151 position in the red box below.

As shown in the figure above, for the component at the R151 position, the one with the printed number is the resistor version (old main board), and the black without number is the magnetic bead version (new main board). The following table shows the version compatibility relationship between the AMS first-stage feeder (or the feeding funnel) and the main board.
Compatibility |
R151 resistor version main board(OLD) |
R151 magnetic bead version main board (NEW) |
Switch version first-stage feeder(OLD) |

Hall version first-stage feeder(NEW) |

This relationship table shows:
(1) Customer needs to confirm the version of the AMS main board before purchasing or replacing a new version of the AMS first-stage feeder(or the feeding funnel);
(2) If the customer's AMS main board is the R151 resistor version, it is necessary to apply to the Bambulab Support Team to get a new AMS main board;
(3) If the customer's AMS main board is the R151 magnetic bead version, it can be used normally without replacing the AMS main board.
When the AMS is disconnected, press the button on the AMS filaments hub and pull out the PTFE tube from the back of the AMS.
Remove the 2 screws with the H2.0 hex key, and then loosen the AMS main frame, avoiding the button when lifting it up.

Disconnect the 2 cables on the AMS power board, take out the main frame, and confirm the version of the main board according to the appearance of the component at the R151 position on the board.

If it is confirmed that the AMS main board is the R151 resistor version, please refer to the picture below to take a photo. It is required that the SN of the AMS main board should be clear, and it can be seen clearly whether the component at the position of R151 has numbers. And then submit a service ticket and upload the photo and the order number of the first-stage feeder (or the feeding funnel). Then, just wait for the Bambu Lab Support Team to process your request.
Reminder: We will keep the main board replacement records, and repeated applications will be rejected.
