¶ Issue Description
When the printer is printing with the AMS, if the printer detects that the filament cannot be fed properly (commonly referred to as "air printing"), the system will automatically:

Cut and retract the filament back to the AMS.

Pause the print task and display an error message.
Possible causes of the issue include:

Nozzle clogging.
-
Filament jamming inside the extruder.
-
Excessive debris on the extruder gears.
-
Filament being too thin or damp, causing slippage with the extruder gears.
Friendly reminder:
After troubleshooting, clicking "Resume" may result in defects such as missing layers.

If minor defects are acceptable → You may proceed with printing.

If a flawless print is required → It is recommended to cancel and restart the print.

Users may adjust the order of these solutions as needed.
¶ Step 1. Filament Quality Check

Remove the faulty filament from the AMS slot.
-
If the front end of the filament is worn or deformed, cut it off.

Use a vernier caliper to measure the filament diameter at multiple points. The normal filament diameter is 1.75mm +/- 0.03mm. If the diameter is too small, replace the filament and try printing again.

If the filament has become damp due to prolonged use, replace it or dry it before attempting to print again.
After reinserting the filament into the AMS, click "Resume." If the filament still fails to extrude, proceed to Step 2.
¶ Step 2. Hotend Clogging Check

If printing fails after Step 1, wait for the printer to pause the task.

Manually press the cutter lever to cut the filament.

Remove the hotend and, while it is still warm, use needle-nose pliers to grip the filament at the hotend inlet and pull out the remaining filament (be cautious of high temperatures; wear gloves if necessary).

Reinstall the hotend and attempt to resume printing. If it still fails, refer to the Wiki Nozzle/Hotend Unclogging Procedure for X1/P1 for further troubleshooting.
After cleaning the hotend, reinstall it and perform an extrusion test. If the test fails, proceed to Step 3.
¶ Step 3. Extruder Clogging Check
¶ Step 3-1. Disassemble the quick change tool interface and hotend
Refer to the Wiki Replace H2D extruder motor Steps 1~6 to remove the quick change tool interface and hotend.
¶ Step 3-2. Clean residual filament and gear debris

Clean the residual filament from the faulty extruder side.

If there is significant debris on the extruder gears, remove the gears and clean them thoroughly with a brush.
¶ Step 3-3. Reinstall extruder module

Refer to the Wiki Replace H2D extruder motorto reinstall the quick change tool interface and hotend.

Click "Resume." If successful, the troubleshooting process is complete.
If the above solutions do not resolve the issue, submit a ticket and upload the printer’s log files.
