Function: The feeder motor is located in each feeder unit of the AMS and AMS2 Pro. Its primary function is to feed filament into the Internal Hub Unit during the feeding stage and rotate the spool to retract filament during the retraction stage. This HMS (Health Management System) error is triggered if the resistance to the feeder motor's rotation is too high during the filament change process, preventing the motor from turning normally.
Phenomenon: The feeder motor is blocked and cannot rotate. The spool cannot rotate normally during the feeding and retracting processes.
First, check the filament tube behind the AMS to confirm if the filament has been fed out of the AMS. If it has been fed out for more than 30 centimeters and then retracted for a retry, it indicates a odometer assembly fault. Please refer to the wiki for troubleshooting: AMS A The odometer has no signal. The odometer connector may have poor contact.
If the filament fed out of the AMS is less than 30 centimeters long, refer to the following causes for troubleshooting:
a. The feeder arm unit is stuck. Manually rotate the spool downwards. If the spool rotates with high resistance, this indicates that the feeder arm unit is stuck, causing excessive resistance for the feeder motor. You can try manually rotating the spool up and down to restore its normal rotation, then retry.
b. The filament is tangled or knotted, preventing normal feeding. Please manually untangle the filament and retry.
c. The driven retraction shaft is not properly installed. Remove the spool and observe whether the driven retraction shaft is properly installed and rotates smoothly. If it's not in place, please reinstall it and try again.
d. An excessively wide or non-standard radius spool can also cause friction between the spool and the main frame, leading to excessive resistance to spool rotation. We recommend using official Bambu Lab spools.
e. There's foreign material stuck in the internal hub unit. Disconnect the internal filament tube from the internal hub unit and check for broken filament, foreign objects, or other blockages in the channel.
f. Disconnect the internal filament tube from the internal hub unit, then manually feeder a section of filament to check if the filament sensor has excessive resistance. Press the button on the internal hub unit (as shown in Figure 1 below) to check if the filament can be fed out of the internal hub unit.
If the filament cannot pass through the internal hub unit normally, please disassemble the internal hub unit to check if the sensor's magnet is working correctly. If the magnet does not rebound properly, the internal hub unit needs to be replaced.
