During the extruder switching process, the lifting motor drives the vertical movement of the left hotend and the switching of the flow blocker through a gearbox. Abnormal data from the toolhead lifting motor position hall sensor can cause switching failure, which will pause the printing task until troubleshooting is completed.
Possible causes of this issue include:
Loose connection of the hall sensor connector.
Faulty hall sensor.
1 – Toolhead lifting motor, 2 – Toolhead lifting motor position hall sensor (including hall effect sensor and connector) , 3 – Gearbox
Before disassembling the toolhead, ensure the printer is powered off.

Users may adjust the order of these solutions as needed.
Refer to Steps 1 to 4 in the Wiki Disassemble the H2D toolhead to expose the TH connection board.
As shown in the image below, peel off the foam cover of the left hotend heating component plug, and reconnect the hall sensor connector. Reinstall all previously disconnected plugs.
Go to the Nozzle & Extruder module on the screen, click on the left or right extruder, and check if the HMS alert still occurs during switching.
If no HMS alert occurs, troubleshooting ends. If switching still fails, proceed to Step 4.
Refer to Steps 5 to 10 in the Wiki Disassemble the H2D toolhead to expose the hall effect board. Remove and install the screws as shown in the image below to replace the toolhead lifting motor position hall sensor.
Note: If the toolhead lifting motor position hall snesor is replaced, perform toolhead switching calibration after reassembling the toolhead.
Refer to Steps 27 to 34 in the Wiki Disassemble the H2D toolhead to assemble the toolhead.
Refer to Step 3 to test if the lifting process has returned to normal.
If normal, refer to Steps 35 to 37 in the Wiki Disassemble the H2D toolhead to install the remaining components of the toolhead.
If the above solutions do not resolve the issue, submit a ticket and upload the printer’s log files.
