¶ Issue Description
The hotend fan has a speed feedback signal and is used to keep the filament outside the nozzle cooled and rigid. If the hotend fan speed remains too low, the hotend temperature will rise, causing the filament to become too soft and jam inside the hotend.
The hotend cooling fan is used to keep the filament cool and firm at the nozzle cooling fins. If the hotend cooling fan speed is kept low, the nozzle temperature rises and causes the filament to be too soft and easy to clog in the hotend.
The following are possible reasons for this HMS error:
- The fan blade is stuck by something (such as a filament) and cannot rotate freely;
- The hotend cooling fan connector is not installed correctly;
- The hotend cooling fan is broken;
- The TH board is broken.
¶ Safety warnings and printer status before starting operation
Warning: The hotend cooling fan may spin unexpectedly during cleaning, posing a risk of injury. Since the fan cannot be turned off, please use a pen or Allen key to safely complete the following step
¶ Troubleshooting
¶ Step 1.Prepare the Hotend
Set the hotend temperature to 0 °C. The hotend fan will automatically turn off when the temperature drops below 50 °C (and will automatically turn on when the hotend reaches 50 °C).
¶ Step 2.Inspect the Fan Blades
Remove the front cover, then gently rotate the fan blades using a pencil or screwdriver to check if they are stuck. If you find any obstruction, remove it promptly.
¶ Step 3. Reconnect the Hotend Fan
After cleaning the fan, follow Steps 1–2 in the guide:《Replace H2S Part Cooling Fan》:
- Loosen the part cooling fan
- Loosen the toolhead rear cover
- Reconnect the hotend fan’s 4-pin connector securely and correctly
Once done, set the hotend temperature to 51 °C. The fan should restart (if it is not stuck or damaged). Observe whether the HMS error message disappears.
¶ Step 4. Replace the Hotend Fan
If the error persists, try replacing the hotend fan with a new one to see if it resolves the issue.
¶ Step 5. Check the TH Board
If the above steps do not fix the problem, the TH board may be faulty. Please contact support for replacement.
